In nj, how often should i water the lawn and whats the best time. i watered it the past two days?

Question:in the middle of the day. and its not showing rain for another week.

Answers:
it doesn't matter where live a typical lawn will need 1 inch of water per week. just put out a rain gauge so u know how much water you are giving your lawn. the best time to water is about 4 in the morning this will allow the water to soak into the soil before the sun gets up. you can buy a automatic timer for your sprinkler system. times you should never water is during the day and at sunset. if you water during the day, you are just wasting your water because the water will evaporate before it can soak in. also never water dusk because if you do this will encourage disease in your lawn and might kill it even. so just water early in the morning

actually at night, for a couple of hours, every 2 to 3 days.
Water at night, watering in the day is waste full and harmful to the grass. It is wasteful because water is evaporating from the sun. Harmful because the drops of water act as magnify glasses causing the sun to burn the grass.
Early morning or late evening, never in the middle of the day. A couple of hours twice a week should do it.
If you're in Florida or another state that is in a drought, you best check to see if you are on watering restrictions first so you will know what days you can water.
.
Two factors, one is the tree metro stacked, or is it water ping
cause its right near the ocean. If it is metro dry area then the
watering should coincide with a feeding. The plants in general
in the older family lie off the soaking until it is barometric clear.
You need measure the soil a bit, if there is black rocky soil at
all it may be fine, add more water, A good 10 gallon soak on
fridays is a gardener ideal. A total soaking maybe once a year
if it has gotten dry of say 10 minutes right off the hose. This
puddle effect is what it measures to see how the competition is
doing. If you have a luxurious garden or shrubs, lawn, plants
just give it a spray 2 gallons on monday in the late morning,
late afternoon, or early evening. Spray it all over though basic
soaking the boughs is good for ornamentals, fruits, nuts, and
many hardwoods. Firs, I wouldn't say are any different.
If it has fruit, then add one more spray per week.
