I have noticed that when "certain critters" pee on the grass in the back yard ?

Question:that it turns very healthy looking and a much darker green.

Without catching the "critter" and running a urinalysis, what is the best fertilizer ttype to use in order to replicate this experimint over the entire yard.?

(no cutey answers which are not specific as to fertilizer that I can buy easily.)

Answers:
Pee has ammonia in it. Ammonia is pure nitrogen. Nitrogen turns grass green -- that is as long as you don't use too much. When that happens you get bare spots because too much nitrogen "burns" the grass.

Most lawn fertilizers have nitrogen in them, so that is how you can replicate your experiment. However, the same cautions apply-- too much nitrogren will leave you with an ugly brown, burned up lawn.

You need to look at the bag of fertilizer. It will have three numbers on it. The first is always nitrogen, the second, phosphorus and the third, potasium. Your lawn needs all three. A good lawn fertilizer will have something like this: 3 parts nitrogen, 1 part phosphorus, and 2 parts of potassium. (12-4-8)

horse manure
i peed on your grass!
It is the nitrogen in the urine that greens up the grass but too much will kill it! look for lawn products that contain nitrogen. www,scotts.com
rabbit urine is a natural fertilized, also rabbit dropping are a very good time release fertilizer.
