Help maggots in my wheelie bin?

Question:Two week rubbish collections aren't they great

Answers:
i just take my rubbish to the tip about a mile down the road.
I hate doing it because we pay our council tax, which covers this but then you dont get stinky bins for 2 weeks.

I know, we had the same problem. My partner just squashed them, errrrrrr!!
I don't spect the maggots actually need any help, i'll bet they're happy enough as they are. Stop worrying!
I dont really understand the fuss with the fortnightly collection.
We've had it for years round here and never had a problem with maggots or smells.
If you have a maggot problem just kill them, and freshen it up.

Like I said in another topic just use some cleaning products like bleach and detergent and it should kill them. If that doesn't work squash em and spray something like Freebrease or Lysol.
My advice to you is to buy a fishing pole!

Tight lines!
Tip the bin over and get them in a bait tin. Free fishing bait!
A daily spray with bleach round the wheelie bin lid in hot weather keeps the flies away . No flies ,= no maggots
Don,t worry, they will turn into flies soon and then you'll have a bigger problem
give it a good was with bleach or dettol.

there are a lot of wheelie bin cleaning companys that will make your bin sparkle like a new pin!

have a look in your local yello pages for your local company.
TWO WEEK COLLECTIONS? Christ. Not good. Here are a few tips:
Rinse the bin with bleach - that'll kill the maggots.

To avoid a repeat:
1: Keep the lid sealed to avoid flies getting in to the bin in the first place
2: Properly tie all bin liners - don't put food waste straight in the bin
3: Recycle! Then you won't have so much in the bin, enabling you to keep the lid closed
4: Compost all your veg etc - it's great for the garden, and it also further reduces your waste
5: If you are a large family and, even if you are doing all the above, your bin is still too full buy another bin. The key is to KEEP THE LID ON!!
6: Move house to an area that does weekly collections!

We put out less than one bin bag a week through doing this. The greener you are the better!

Good luck.....
boiling water will sort it for you
Shallow fry in butter until golden and crispy..
there are 4 adults 2 kids 2 dogs and assorted lingering people in our house and we've never had a problem with maggots in our bin
its never even gets half full ,so i don't understand why people keep whinging about theirs !?! especially when its only 1 or 2 peeps in the house!!!!

BUY LESS STUFF AND RECYCLE MORE RUBBISH
I have found (at last!!) the perfect way to get rid of the maggots in my bin... a product called Bin Fresh. It is a wipe that I add daily on top of my rubbish and it repels flies, which in turn means I have no more problems with nasty maggots. The wipes make the bins smell much fresher and cleaner too, and they only cost £7.99 for 2 months'supply.

You can buy them from www.bin-fresh.co.uk - it is well worth it, they have made a huge difference!
just feed them to my fish
