Flowers to plant????

Question:my mom asked me to find a hardy flower (like a perennial) that would overwelm the weeds on our bank so we would not have to cut it ...most likely a flower that does not require waterig pruning etc... i would like a really pretty flower and something that would easily spread like a bulb if anyone has any ideas please tell me thanks much appreciated

Answers:
Vinca. It is a fast growing, fast spreading ground cover that has a pretty blue flower when in bloom. The only draw back is that it is somewhat invasive, however, the roots are shallow making it easy to pull out.
Does well in sun and shade.

Not knowing how large of area it is kinda hard to suggest but, look into ornmental grasses. They don't flower but if it is a sunny bank they shimmer real nice, ground covers spread fast and some flower.
try ground cover. go to home depot and check em out, there are plenty of different kinds!
I recommend fragaria, wild strawberry, they are hardy, spread very fast (via runners) and have attractive flowers and fruit in Summer.
Have you thought about Lily of the Valley? Pretty flowers with a great scent. The Latin name is Convallaria majalis, if you want to do a search. They spread by runners and like shade. If you're looking for something pretty and aromatic that will take over, this is your plant.

This company doesn't sell them right now because they should be planted in the spring.
