I live in Georgia and have these red bugs everywhere in my yard. What are they and how do I get rid of them?

I lived in Savannah for 3 years 89-92 and we had them. They were in the Spanish Moss hanging from the trees. Some said they were chiggers but chiggers bite. SO I don't know, these didn't bite.
