How can i get my grass healthy again?
Question:i am a new homeowner and for some reason i can't keep my grass green, other than the spots my dog marks on. It's not a huge yard and I've seen neighbors fertilizing but my parents said it's not necessary at this time of year. I live in the Pac NW and it's going to be almost 100 degrees tomorrow. How can I keep it from frying?

One way I found that is the cheapest is to let your grass get really tall(6-8 in.) and go to seed before you cut it. even more so in the spring and keep your grass cut at the middle setting of your lawn mower height.this should keep weeds down and your grass can shade the roots better so that the water doesn't evaporate so fast, plus it will be soft enough to walk bare footed. also try cutting the grass in different paterns once in awhile.
water down the grass twice a day
water it in the evening when there is no sun...keep drenching it every night
FERTILIZER always helps, my plants and grass are blooming!!
you cant
make sure you water it plenty of times and it should be really healthy
keep a sprinkler going all day.
It is not logical to water grass. Grass is perfectly capable of going dormant (turns brown) during a dry/hot spell and then coming back to green and growing when the weather changes.
Why try to fight mother nature? You will surely loose and just waste resources.
If your grass is thin, always plant new seed in the fall when its cooler and give plenty of water. Once established, the lawn will survive your hot spells and come back fine.
Also, when it goes dormant, you don't need to mow so you save on gas for the mower, not to mention time.
you got to FERTILIZE plus water alot
It's just gone dormant from the heat and it will come back in the fall when the weather cools.
I have a yard maintenance company to my fertilizing, grub and week control etc.
You do fertilize at this time of year.In fact, they fertilize mine 5 times a season. From early spring till fall.
Watering should be done in the evening. An hour each area, once a week.A good soaking once a week does more good than light soakings several times a week.
Don't worry.Next fall you'll have a nice lawn again.
Sprinkle in some vermicompost. It is loaded with nutrients for pretty much anything that grows. It is a little known secret and it's kinda hard to find. Check out http://www.1800topsoil.com to see if they have someone local. Also be sure not to water your lawn at night or during the day. Water it at a time when the bulk of the water will soak into the lawn (not in the heat of the day when it will evaporate) and the rest of it will evaporate rather than sit there and grow fungi and bacteria (which is what happens when you water at night) so good luck.
