Ever grow a palm tree before?
Question:my dads growing 12 palm trees and honestly i think he has no idea what hes doing. hes been sniping off the tips of the trees and now there starting to get dead spots (kind of like when its aultumn and the tree leaves fall to the ground and get all hard and stuff) the trees are only like six or seven feet tall (about 2 meters). i think the trees are heathy.
we live in Seattle, Washington (united state) the same latitude as uper france or mid-lower germany
the year round temperature is mid to upper 70s fahrenheit (about 24 degrees celsius) in the summer and in the winter it gets to lower 40s to 30s fahrenheit (about 1 degrees celsius)
any tips you have on plam tree raising just me know... please! i think my dads killing the trees
Answers:
Palm trees can survive in quite a range of temperatures.The temperatures you mention are fine.The one thing they don't like is been touched or pruned.Palm fronds will drop off naturally. They don't need watering,and they don't like fertiliser.They do have a long life.Tell Dad to leave them alone.

Twelve palm trees in how large of an area? They will not grow properly if the are not spaced far apart. We had two in our back yard. Something got wrong with one of them and had to be cut down. The other one did not grow properly and was a lot shorter than the one cut down. After the one tree was cut down, the shorter one had doubled it size in less than a year. Now it is very tall.

I live in Florida and have several palm trees in my yard. i just basically leave them alone until its time to trim back some of the branches.
what kind of palms i know the date palms grow in oregon should grow in washington the california tall skinny palms dont do well here
