Can a weeping willow be planted in the same area as a pine tree?

Question:We bought a weeping willow and the only place to plant it is by a red pine. Will the willow be able to live in such acidic soil?

Answers:
The willow may do better that the pine. Willows send out water-seeking roots that will spread quite a ways. They also grow fast. Might crowd out the pine or give to much shade. I think a willow will live in most any soil as long as it gets water.

I have had no such luck as planting anything next to pine trees, they usally kill over anything around them and the soil they root in is usally really messed up, id plant it somewhere else
No, pine trees are awful bullies at night. Weeping willows are best planted next to pansies.
before you make the investment, speak to a garden center or nursery. these trees need completely different environs to thrive. the nursery will generally plant the tree for a nominal charge if it isn't offered for free and this will guarantee the tree in case something happens to it.
yes-willows are tough
Yes just make sure there a no water lines near the tree.
I have know of this tree's roots to strangle water line underground.
And not to close to the house it is a tree that can grow extremely large in size.
