When is the best time of year to have your trees trimmed?

Question:With the huge amounts of rain we have received, they are growing out of control.

Answers:
The best times are fall and spring. Less chance of diseases or harming the trees.

Valentines Day is the best time for trimming everything. If limbs get out of control you can always prune them any time of the year.
it sometimes depends on what kind of tree you have... maples can be trimmed in summer, most others need to be dormant, in very early spring. if it's a tree that will bloom, like a cherry or crab apple, you DON"T want to prune in very early spring cuz you'll cut off the blooms!... those, you'd prune after the bloom was finished. best idea is to look up the kind of tree you have and find out what type of pruning and when to do it to do best by the tree.
Hi:
The best time of the year to trim trees are usually in the fall months. I don't recommend pruning trees when the are in their growth season. Even though you have had a lot of rain, if you are in the growing time, be careful. If they are totally out of control, trim the end part of the branches. It also depends of the type of tree. If it is deciduous, it will die out in the winter. Trim back before the cold sets in. If it is an evergreen, you can trim in fall or late winter. Depends also on your geographic location. One tip, always cut the branches at an angle. Never cut straight across as it could damage the branches and leaves. Take a look at my website to get some further information. Best of luck to you.

It depends on the tree and on your climate. Check out http://www.1800topsoil.com to see if they can help you. Good luck!
Very early spring is the best time. If the growth is not hurting anything or causing a problem as to possible structure damage I would wait until next spring. If you trim your trees alot now it could open them up to desease and you could do more harm than good.
