When do roses bloom ?
Question:In which month do they bloom are or they all different !
Answers:
Depends on where you live-- I would say. Mine bloom all Summer from June to September. I live in Nortren New York.
mine bloomed this month, july♥
Shrub roses bloom between spring and fall, constantly.
Others bloom mainly in the spring and early summer
Most roses bloom in June, but it depends on the type.
Some new cultivars bloom continuously from summer to fall. The Knockout rose blooms continuously until a hard frost stops it.
Some roses like "Charlotte Armstrong" are repeat bloomers, they bloom in spring, take a rest & rebloom again in the fall.
You'll usually find the bloom times indicated on the information tags attached to the roses, or ask the nursery person selling them.
Good luck! Hope this helps.
if I prune mine right I can get flowers from spring to fall but mostly late spring, and again early fall
Claire, with some exceptions most roses will bloom from spring till frost, if you prune them ,once the flowers fade. Stop pruning about middle of fall and let them rest. The general pruning rule is to go 3 leaflet sets down, or to an outward facing bud, and cut at a 45 degree angle away from the bud. It is a good idea to seal bigger canes with either pruning seal or plain old kids glue..otherwise cain borers might get in and they can kill the rosebush. If your roses start looking bare you can cut them year round, at least down south...I have to cut mine way down sometimes. But if you cut fading flowers they should shoot out new stuff and rebloom non stop. Some roses are self cleaning and only need pruning to keep them in shape(Old English roses, my fav. or shrub roses)
It also helps if you fertilize them..they love fish emulsion which is really stinky though, and they also like some epsom salt.
But if you do have more ?'s pls feel free to e mail me!
