Why doesn't my venus flytrap like flies?
Question:
Answers:
Maybe it's not happy. Plant venus flytraps and pitcher plants in pure peat moss in a nice size drainable pot. Put this first pot in a second pot that is a bit larger and will hold water. This creates a moister envirnoment for it and never let the outer pot dry out. Keep about one or two inches of water in it. Occasionally, take the first pot out to let it drain of water.
They like morning sun as it's not as hot as afternoon sun.
You know that the traps only work once. It's been my experience that once it catches something, it stays closed for a couple of days and then the leaf dies.
Could be gay or asexual.
same reason i like steak and chicken.mmmm mmm good
It may not be big enough.
vegetarian perhaps?

Rusty zip?
maybe its vegetarian?
In my experience they're all a bit rubbish and don't live up to their names or the hype.
How big is your fly trap and how big are the flies. If you drop flies straight down..it will not do anything. On each side of its jaws there are fine hairs. If a fly or insect touches those hairs it will close up and smother and crush it..because they are intruders it does not really eat them. It is a fly trap and not a fly eater.
I bought 2 years ago we thought it would be fascinating for my children to watch .We ended up catching the flies and putting them in the fly traps then they took days to digest the fly
Because there is no flyes around it and it's probably not even a venus flytrap plant.
