First contact you insurance agent and accountant if you have one. If you do not have one get an Accountant immediately.
You want to seperate your business vehicles from your personal units ASAP. You are opening yourself to liabilities that are beyond imagination. Forget what you have and dream of the future or the loss of it in the event of an accident with your personal vehicle.
Should you be involved in an unfortunate event and have both equipment and employees in the unit you are not covered unless you have a policy to the contrary. A personal vehicle is personal not business.
The Accountant should, and get one right away, tell you that the lease/purchase of the other vehicle and equipment is tax-deductable. Make sure the operator of the vehicle is a licensed driver, with appropriate certification per state, and purchase the insurance for the vehicle.
You are starting out and running the thin line between success and bankruptcy. Get the Accountant, use them to get the loan, then go forward to great things. Good Luck.
First of all you want to consider the weight of the trailer and your mowers to make sure you are not exceeding the pulling weight limit of your explorer. It looks a little more professional to show up with a pickup and trailer then an suv and a trailer. Another advantage to have a pickup would be if you ever had to haul anything like grass clippings or fertilizer that may not fit on your trailer. The big issue would be the pulling limit of the explorer because it is unsafe to exceed the pulling limits of your vehicle. It is hard on the engine, brakes, and radiator.
