Growing beans in pots?
Question:I am growing beans in a rectangular pot (which is about 15 cm in height and 35cm in width) and the beans has grown about 1 feet and they look healthy and i am worried abt transplanting them into my garden because i am gonna move house in 5 months and dont wanna leave it behind and i wanna know if i can let them grow in the same pot.

Beans are climbing plants...soon they will need twine etc to climb on and produce..They will not be movable cause they will die..beans root very shallow..no worry about the roots crowding in the pot..they only go 2 inches down ...My solution would be..put your trellis up and let them grow..You will not move untill 5 months from now..they will be finished making by then..we will be in the winter time..and they wont grow anyway.build a trellis like mine on the link below..and go for your veggies..You can also make a simple net out of twine to grow them on as well..You can leave them in the pot, and place it next to the twine...as the 'stringers grow..guide them alittle by hand wrapping them around the twine untill they get started going
they will die at the end of the season anyway. they are annual. and it depends where you are in world/country/etc.
Beans are one time deals. They wont come back next year.
That how you grow bean spout except you don't use dirt. You need to eat them when they are spouting up. However, your bean might die when you transfer your bean plants. Season is just about over now. You have about 6 more weeks to go if your plants are already on the ground and healthy. Most of the time they will look very sick after you transferred on the ground, and then they decide they are going to make it or not. By that time it too late to producing any thing. I wouldn't recommend leaving them in the same pot as the roots can get overcrowded and pretty much suffocate. I would simply move them into a larger pot that will give them room to expand and would also allow you to transport them when it comes time to move.
put them in a bigger pot with a trellis behind them. They will grow just fine. The plants will be done producing well before 5 months is up.
Beans don't transplant well - they have shallow, fragile roots. I keep getting squirrels digging in my bean pot and the plants are slowly but surely dying off on me, even when they aren't completely uprooted.
Just leave them in the pot until they stop producing.
