What are all the job positions within the field of horticulture/gardening??
Question:I'm falling in love w/it and get very 'into' to this bigtime--what are some GREAT paying jobs for this??
Did you ever have this hobby liked it so much decided to venture out and become a professional at it?
Does your job pay pretty well, if so?
And if your hired privately to other's gardening, what is the going rate for this?
THank you!!

Landscape architects make really good money. But it takes special degrees to do that. Landscape design is pretty good money, too, but easier to attain (less schooling/degrees needed).
The going rate for entery level gardening/crewing is about $9-10 working for an employer. It also tends to be labor-intensive. Lots of lifting, moving plants, mulch, and digging. Self-employed, at least $15-20. But keep in mind, you pay more taxes being self-employed, and generally work fewer hours, at least until you've increased your client load. Also - it's seasonal. That's a big drawback. You can almost garantee to be unemployed at least 3 months out of the year.
If you love it. I recommend not quitting your day job. Pick up extra work on the side if you can get it, or start taking a class or two at a time to see if pursuing a degree interests you.
If the side-work is successful, you can gradually build up a business, or at least gain experience to use eventually for your own purposes. Also - jumping full-time into a labor-heavy, seasonal gardening/landscaping job might mean you have less energy and time to do what you love in your own place. The big season for those industries is generally the time you need to be spedning the most time preparing or planting your own gardens.
