Are hummingbirds common in Ronkonkoma, NY and on Long Island?

Question:I wanted to buy a hummingbird feeder to put in my yard. I have never seen one of these birds on Long Island before, but heard that they do appear now and then. I was wondering if anyone sees them and if you can tell me where on LI you are located. Also, how to attract more. I am in Ronkonkoma

It stated that the hummingbirds migrate to your area around early June. Go ahead-get a feeder or two. I have five--I really enjoy watching them. Of all the hummingbirds, I'd say the Ruby throat is the most agressive - buzzing you and chirping at you and other hummers that move into their territory!
