I need help with my tomatoes!?
Question:This is my first time growing anything. I have them in a big pot on the porch. They get plenty of sun and water. But when they get about golf ball size, they start to rot on the bottom. What is going on???
Answers:
It sounds like your getting blossom end-rot. This link provides excellent insight into the problem (calcium deficiency) and how to correct.

Good luck and enjoy your tomatoes!
Insects - you need to spray with a pesticide
Probably too much water. It's tempting to over-water plants, but they really don't need it until the soil is dry 2"-3" down. Stick your finger in the pot and feel for moisture...if you don't feel any, give it some water (a hose set to trickling is good for a deep soak). Watering in the am is best, and try not to get any water on the leaves/fruits. Good luck!
It sounds like they have a condition called Blossom End Rot. It's caused by a lack of calcium/magnesium. You can find a treatment for this at most garden stores. Before I plant, I put about 1/4 cup of epsom salts in the hole and mix it in the soil well. This has helped me avoid the problem for the most part..
They have what is called, 'blossom rot".
Get some calcium nitrate and put a little around them.
It will not help the ones that already have it but it
will help prevent the others that produce from getting
it. Put just a couple of teaspoons full around the base and
wet it in.
You should be able to find it at your local coop or maybe
Home Depot
Maybe they need to be planted in the ground, I know its a big pot but, tomatoes like the earth better.
