How long after installation should I wait to mow Kentucky Bluegrass sod?

Question:I know that I need to wait a while to give the sod time to root but with all of the water I've been giving it it has been growing very fast. When can I safely mow?

Answers:
The root system should be pretty well established within about 4 weeks. It will be ok to mow it at that time. But remember for the first couple of mowings you'll want to keep the mowing height a little higher, say about 3". You can also check the roots by grabbing one of the sheets of sod and see if you can gently pull up on it. If the roots are taking hold, it will feel solid to the ground and it won't lift up. Hope this answers your question.
