What do I use to clean my swimming pool after it has been drained?
Question:The pool has been completely drained and the leaves are out. what do I use to clean the pool. It's a gunite pool.
Answers:
IT depends on what you need to have done to your Pool. IF the pool is stained <not stains from leaves ,or tree branches etc> you might need to have what they call an Acid Wash. IT is best to leave this to the professionals as this is a large job, and you are going to have to neutralize any water before you can pump it out of the pool before refilling. IF you drained your pool because you had stains from leaves, or branches, You could have probably just super chlorinated your pool without emptying it. Of course, without seeing your pool i am just going on assumptions, and Every pool and situation is different. IF your pool just has leave and tree branch stains <organic stains> you might try just taking a heavy duty Brush and use liquid chlorine and scrub the pool...(this also works well on your concrete pool decks that have black marks from where a Winter cover sat for 6 months)...
The Chlorine water at the bottom of the pool can pumped out, to a drain, or if its really not that dirty, you could just leave it there, as the water would end up filtering. and 40 gallons of water/chlorine mix in the bottom of your pool in a 20000 gallon pool will almost not even show once you get it filled.
Hope this information helps you.
