I need some flower ideas?

Question:i live in florida. i have a backyard that has areas of partial to full shade and some spots where there is direct sunlight. it tends to rain every afternoon in the summer. i don't have the best drainage. i'm wanting to add some color and flowers that smell good. any recommendations for partial shade to full shade area and direct sunlight area? thanks

Answers:
Wow! You have everything.
For the shade, get some hostas. They have beautiful green or gold or blue leaves and come back every year.
In the sunny area, plant some astilbes and some heliotrope. The heliotropes smell beautifully of vanilla.
Have fun!

dahlia's are hardy, as well as geraniums
I would go to my local library, and check books for landscaping and gardening for Florida. I am sure they will have it. You will learn more about the available plants in the area, their planting time, watering, and sun exposure requirements and have some ideas for different sized backyards.
