Cannabis smell-what would you do?
Question:What would you do if your 16 year old neighbour and his friends were smoking so much cannabis that the smell was hanging heavily in the communal hallway and nearly blowing my head off? It smells horrible. He is also growing it in the communal garden but doesn't seem to think that it's not ok.
He lives there on his own without parents.
Would you do anything?

I would use a natural odours air freshener, either plug-in for 24 hours odour destruction, or a spray. Eg. Oust : this destroys nicotine cigarette smoke smells quickly, and should do the same for theirs.
Have a word with him, as he is likely to destroy his future career, if he gets a conviction for dealing, which growing such stuff could do - not to mention heavy fine and/or a prison sentence. Be polite and respectful, showing that you have concern for him, and not just the smell.
If the plants don't disappear, pull it up - someone else is likely to steal it, due to its value. Otherwise, weed killer (excuse the pun) will work a treat.

Call the police or tell the landlord, is it a council property? If so tell the estate management team. Personally i would go out and take some deep breaths that'll chill u out lol!! Only kidding so i hate the smell too actually!
Tell him that you can really smell it, and tell him that other people can too.
tell him that someone may end up reporting him...
Also ask if he could not smoke in hallway as it stinks. be friendly and appeal to his youth, and you should have no problems.
As you know it is illegal. The best thing to do is to phone your local council or the police. He is being naive and silly for growing it in such a public place and obviously has to learn the ways of the world. Be out when the police call though so it's not completely obvious it is you.

Is it rented accomodation? Inform your landlord.

tell him that the smell is leaking out and you are afraid he will be turned in by someone, you don't say where you live. but growing it in a communal garden is just plain stupid.
i'd try having a word with him. but if you get no decent response then go to the land lord or phone the police. you sound like a decent person who doesn't bother with things too much but if it's affecting you then you have to do something
if he is not sharing tell him something! j/k. seriously though, tell him its bothering you and your guests. ask him if he can at least put a wet towel under his door so the stink doesnt go into the common area hall. give him a chance to act like an adult if he fails and acts like the kid he is... go to the association or the landlord.
since you asked what I would do, the answer is tap some weed of him, and take the plants in the communal garden when they started budding, but since you obviously don't like it, i don't really know what you could do about him smoking with mates(suppose you could tell the police but i doubt that would do any good) you could report it to the landlord, bleach will take care of the plant in the garden, just a thought. good luck with whatever you do.
smoking pot is not against the law. posessing it is.
myself, I would not call the police. I would go & buy some insense. I would also talk to him & tell him to open his window when he smokes or take it outside. As for the plant-pinch it at the base & it will wilt & die. He will be busy wondering why it died & what he did wrong.
