Mushrooms growing in my backyard?

Question:I noticed alot of mushrooms growing in my backyard around a really big tree..where did they come from?

Answers:
Your big tree and the mushrooms, may be living together, it's most likely a mycorrhizal relationship, where each benefits the other. Or it might be saprophytic and the mushrooms are killing the tree, but these mushrooms usually appear on the tree. It would have been infected by spores or mycilia when the tree was young. RScott

I don't know but don't eat em.
they grew from the ground. Dont eat them or you might see little hobbits running around talking to you
Mushrooms grow from spores, and spores are airborne, so they could have come from anywhere.
If they are genuine eating mushrooms, lucky you, enjoy, so much nicer than those awful cultivated things, just make sure they're not toadstools though or you be in all sorts of trouble.
Some spores get carried by ants and termites.
If you could post a pic we can tell you more?
mycellium
Mushrooms often have a symbiotic relationship with large trees, or the airborne spores could have just landed there. Never ever eat mushrooms growing in the wild, or your back yard. There are many species of poisonous mushrooms that resemble the edible ones, and there's too much of a chance you're eating the wrong kind.
