Is there a good safe weedkiller that can be used around blueberry bushes?
Question:
Answers:
Your safest alternative it to hack out the grass, then lay out weed blocking fabric to prevent them from coming back.
A more affordable alternative is to use newspapers, brown paper towels and bags instead of the weed blocker. If you do that, you'll be mulching and composting the area as well, which the bush will appreciate.
ashes
no the roots will absord the liquid
* No.
* And don't use ashes, the acid is not good for fruit bearing plants. This was a method to stop weeds in a fence line or so you don't slip on ice (if cement under ice - - the acid will put pits into the cement).
* Put your lawn clippings around the plants. This will hold moisture when dry, help to reduce weeds, give bedding for winter then turn into compost for nutrients.
There is a weedkiller called "roundup" (glyphosate)that i use for all my weedkilling it is a contact weedkiller meaning it does not affect the soil only the plants it is sprayed on.It works by the plant absorbing the chemical through its leaves and the whole plant is killed including the roots,as long as you are very carefull when spraying round your blueberry bushes and ONLY spray the weeds you should not have a problem ,do this on a still dry day and keep your sprayer as close to the weeds as possible...in aweek to ten days your weeds will be gone.i am a landsacape gardener and i only use this weedkiller and used as directed have never had a problem.i hope this helps and good luck with your problem. :-)
