Earwigs find shelter and sleep during the daytime.

The term "sleep" is a term us humans use when we want to rest. It refers more to a rejuvination period or to rest muscles and refresh the senses...
Bugs go dormant. They dont really sleep to refresh themselves, they just go dormant for certain periods... example: a snail prefers to move when it is moist... usually at night or during rain/drizzle. They dont really get tired, they are moreover programmed to be awake or dormant when their body is best suited to work in the present conditions.
