What is the landscaping tool called that makes circles around trees?

Question:

Answers:
We use a straight edge shovel, they have an 8 " straight edge and are perfect for cutting in tree rings. You can find them at Lowe's , Home Depot, Wal Mart, or any garden center. They usually have a D handle. A sharp shooter will work but its so small that it takes too long.

A shovel. LOL.
we just make it off and either remove the grass or spray roundup around the tree to kill the grass.
A saw. Well, that's what I use. Works just as well. (I assume you're circling trees to kill them)
I tie a string around the tree loosely at the desired diameter of the circle. I then walk around the tree, keeping the string taut, and mark the area with landscape spray paint. Then you can use a shovel or a sod cutter to remove the sod. You will have a perfect circle.
