Common name of tool that extends reach to pickup items?

Question:I am attemting to search out a tool on web shopping sites but I really have no idea what the common name for the tool is. You will sometimes see people using them to pickup trash. It has a scissor like handle, approx. 2-4' long, and when you squeeze the handle the end will grip an object. Anyone have any ideas on the name of this tool? Thanks.
