Does anyone know if decking attracts field mice?
Question:someone told me that having decking in your garden attracts field mice, this womans neighbours on either side of her have decking and shes getting mice in her garden, iv never heard of this before and my garden is fully decked
Answers:
mine been decked for about four years i havent got any mice
Food attracts mice, nothing to eat in a deck. But if there is plenty to eat othersise, it would offer nice shelter.
The only thing that attract´s mice is food. If there is available food supply. They will be the first to come for dinner.
Decking gives protection to vermin and mice feel safe especially if cats cannot follow.
Most definitely yes. Our neighbour had decking done last year and when the weather got colder the mice started nesting under it and we had them in our houses. Pest control discovered the nest under the decking ...they had it removed after the nest was found.
(we are in a small village surrounded by fields)
Yes and rats
I know it attracts bunnies, and I just love to chase them.
Ground level decks attract all kinds of wild life. The first year in this house, I had mice. I don't know if it was because of the deck though.
Another year, toads by the score coming out from under the deck. The following year was the garter snakes. Needless to say I haven't seen a toad since. The deck is old and I pulled a section up to find the skeletal remains of what I think was a possum. This year was the mosquito fest coming out from under the deck. I guess water is sitting stagnant under there. At any rate, a ground level deck is a dark dank place for almost anything to hide, live and breed.
Your better off with stepping stones for the garden, as the only thing they will attract are worms which are good for soil drainage.
it makes no sense to me. just a coincidence i bet you.
yes it does especially if you have animals like dogs personal experience they p i s s and s h i t and it goes dovn the gaps and that attracts the mice so does food waste going the same way
