How do I get rid of weeds ?
Question:on my lawn especially it keeps growing! how do I get rid of this mess for now! and then how do I prevent it from happening besides pulling them out by?
Answers:
You can use a weed killer spray that you attach to your garden hose that's formulated to kill the weeds but leave your grass intact. Also if they're just a few scattered weeds you can use full strength vinegar and spray it on their roots and they'll normally die within a week.
buy a weed killing spray at a home and garden store
Buy weed spray or just pull them out.
use a weeding spike, and just keep at them. don't let them go to seed--get to them early. otherwise, each weed is sending out dozens of new weeds. i don't recommend weed n' feed, as it is proven carcinogenic and no longer allowed in public parks as a result. and round up is bad for wildlife, too, plus it will kill your grass as well as the weeds. just be diligent, and you'll eventually find that the weeds will become less prevalent, more of an occasional chore.
There is a product in New Zealand called "Weed n Feed". You attach the bottle to your garden hose and water it onto the lawn. It kills the weeds and feeds the grass.
Not sure where you live but I'm sure there must be a similar product available to you. Check your local garden centre or supermarket.
Please don't buy weed killer! Not only can it get into the soil and damage any trees you have on your property but it also leaches into the ground water and pollutes the water table. The best thing besides just pulling the blasted things(I have em too!) is industrial strength vinegar. Not the kind you buy at the grocery store, the kind you get at a hardware or organic garden store. It will not only kill the weed but improve the soil. Then in early fall, depending on where you are, and again just before the growing season starts, put out a layer of horticultural corn meal. This prevents germination. For this reason, don't put it out right before you sow grass seed or something like that. Give it at least a two week window. You'll have fewer and fewer weeds every year.
