Relaying the lawn is the only solution. If you live near woodland as I do, you will always have the seeds blowing and settling, resulting in some couch grass. You could try just pulling it by the roots if only small patch but it is a problem.

I have been removing it for 3 years still comes back weedkiller works to a extent but digging out is the best but you must get all the bits and your neighbours neet to do the same hence the 3 years one won't bother
