How long do I have to wait before lifting my bulbs?

Question:I live in zone 3-4 I deadheaded my tulips about 2 weeks ago and my daffodils about 1 week ago. I need to lift them as I'm raising the bed about 1.5 feet. Also, my paperwhites are just in bloom now. Can I cut off the stems and store the bulbs in some earth for 2 weeks and then replant for next fall or will this cause reblooming this year - or even worse not as nice blooms next year?

Answers:
Yes, if you need to move your bulbs now, you can do so and store them in the earth and then put them right back asap.

The paperwhites can probably be moved also, even if you cut off the flowers, but they may not do much next year.

Good luck.
