When, how and how often do you rake a yard?

Question:I have one acre with trees here and there. I have been blowing them with my riding mower gathering them to several areas, then manually scooping them up into tons of trash bags. Once every year in the Spring. It really kills my back just doing the scoop and trash. I can not afford to hire professional, is there better way to do this? Also how often? Thank you.

Answers:
i rake the leaves in the fall whenever it gets to be out of control .. this is usually about 3 times every fall .. for big areas i use a leaf blower to get them in a pile quickly .. i wish there was a better way to get them into trash bags but sadly i havent found it yet . sorry

You do not need to rake your lawn, the clippings are nutrients for the soil save your money!
just mow them. install a mulching blade if you can. mow in a circular pattern working from the outside to the inside
