i am not sure but u must be referring to what we call in India "Tulsi". here in India almost every house has the plant and puja is performed , it considered very auspicious and holy and has lot of ancient history and mythology attached. few leaves of tulsi can be added to your tea to drive the cold away and hundreds of other benefits
