I want to install a sprinkler system in my yard. How can I test my home's water pressure?

If you want to test the water pressure, find the faucet that you are going to tap in to supply your system. Call a plumber to make the tee, this may seem like your getting away from a diy project but it will save you some grief later. The plumber will also install a check valve when he constructs the tee, this step is to prevent water from the sprinkler system from contaminating the fresh water supply to the house. Have the plumber check the water pressure at the same time, then you have your stub to connect your system. This is the safest way to protect your home water system. good luck
turn a tap on full and time how long it take to fill a 9litre bucket. take this to where u buy ur sprinkler system and they should be able to work out the pressure and design you a system
Your water pressure will fluctuate throughout the day depending on overall city usage. Go to a good hardware or big box and tell them you need a 0 - 100psi gauge ($5-10), a 3/4" hose adapter and reducing bushing ($5). Install it on your water faucet and observe the pressure at various times, day and night. When you install your sprinkler set-up you can install the gauge permanently. RScott
one way to get over not having adequate pressure would be to start out with 1 1/2 " or ' pipe and as you go forward drop the diameter every 15' or so. by the time you get to where the sprinklers are, try to be @ 1/2" or 3/4". this will increase your pressure to sprinklers without taking pressure from your house.
