Are snails bad for your yard?

Question:I have a wildlife habitat in my yard and welcome just about any animal or insect that is not going to end up being damaging to the ecosystem. I think the type of snail I have is lymnaeidae. In some research that I have done, I found that they are native to the Southeastern US of which I live more in the midwestern. If they are harmless, then of course, I welcome them. However, if they are going to eat something that native animals might need then maybe I need to do something about them. I am sure that all the rain we have had recently has been the cause of there being so many. Just wondering if this is a problem or not.

Answers:
If you're not concerned about them eating your garden or other plants, then there's probably no problem with them being there with the other wildlife.

Snails will eat quite a bit of vegitation. I think you should hand pick them and put them somewhere else other than the areas where animals will eat.

Snails are night eaters.

they are part of the circle of life, every part must be there to maintain balance.
Freakin' things eat my leaves in sweet potatoes, beans, peppers, and everything they can smear their slime on.
