Is it true that a Blueberry Bush only produces for 15-20 years?

Question:I have heard that a field of blueberries will only produce 15-20 years. Is this true or will they produce for as long as I care for them properly?

Answers:
Blueberry bushes should produce AT LEAST for 15-20 years. With proper care, they will still produce longer, but commercially it isn't considered as profitable after 20 years. "Yields can be as high as 20 tons per acre (T/A), although yields of 7 to 8 T/A are typical of MATURE plantings."*

"Well–maintained blueberry bushes remain productive for at least 15 to 20 years."

For growers, one study used a 20yr life of Blueberry bush plantings to project & measure profitability :

Hope this helped.

I think that it will depend on your soil and the environment and the care that you give to them. The closer that you can provide their favorite environment, the longer they will live and the more they will produce!!

Blueberries need cool, moist, well-drained acid soil (pH4.5-5.5). They need full sun and ample water. Provide a 3-4 inch mulch. Don't cultivate around plants (shallow roots).

Good Luck!!
