Will cherries grow in San Diego?

Question:I bought cherries at Henry's Marketplace. They have been refrigerated.

Answers:
No, cherries have HIGH chilling requirements. They need MANY winter hours below 45 degrees and therefore are NOT adapted to the mild winter areas of Southern California. They also cannot take the intense heat of summer.

Good Luck!!
