I am getting ready to install a skimmer in an already full pond...?

Question:I am going to drain it to a level below the skimmer intake but how do I shore up the edge to prevent collapse? I have fish in it too.

Answers:
you could run a couple thin pieces of wood between the pond liner and where the skimmer is going to hold the liner in place, but a little spillage during install is no big deal. Just get the skimmer in good and tight and make sure all openings between construction and the liner are filled with dirt upon completion.
