Crimson Pygmy Barberry in Florida?

Question:I am in zone 9 (Tampa) and would like to grow this plant because of it's size and color; I only see the larger version available here...does anyone know if the pygmy version grows in my zone?

m.dirr lists it as zone 4 to 8; not as robust in the heat of zone 8 but performs reasonably well. however, i would not let this deter you. as long as you water it well until established it could grow there. as dirr says, "the plant did not read the book"
