Yard maintenance help?

Question:I have about an acre of back yard with private fence all around it. What can I do along the fence line to keep thick tree like weeds down here in Florida ? I mean its sort of too late, it has several spots which I cut down with my chain saw, but the bottom part is still there on the ground, the new weeds can grow anytime. I am not found of spraying chemical or using chemical of anything around the place. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciate it.

Answers:
If your not fond of using chemical means to control weeds, then you'll probably have to keep chopping them down whenever they begin to grow tall again. The only way to control them is to spray them with an herbicide of some sort. Iam sure you have heard of "roundup". This is a very good herbicide and has no residual effect on the soil once its sprayed onto the weed. It breaks down almost immediately when it hits the soil from microbial action within the soil structure. So, if your afraid of "poisoning" the environment, this isn't gonna happen with roundup. Get a bottle of concentrate and have at it. The weeds will die off withing 2 to 3 weeks and stay gone.. hope this answers your question..

Roundup is a good option but you will need to keep spraying as the weeds come up. A easier option would be Casoron. It is a fine granular that you can sprinkle under you fence. It will basically sterilize the earth for about 6-12 months. No weed pulling or spraying. I have used this at my house in some gravel walkways and along the sides of out house and haven't pulled a weed in a year. Great stuff just make sure it isn't on a hill due to run off,
