How do I get rid of sweat bees in my pool?

Question:I got stung 5 times yeasterday within 1 hour and must have skimmed out 100 of those tiny sweat bees from my pool. I must be allergic too because the bites got big and swollen. Any chemicals or advice? They just float arond and them attach themselves to me, my kids and any floaties, etc. It is driving me crazy! And we have no flowers or anything around to attaract them.

Answers:
I'm a beekeeper and have never heard the term sweet bees before.
If they are Honey bees, you have to understand that they'll die if they can't get water, especially on hot days.

You must have a large concentration of Honeybees very close to your pool, maybe a neighbor. {?}

Bees usually fly to the closest source of water. If they're feral {wild} bees you can place some damp cloth daily close to where their nest is, that may help.

However,****BEWARE**** they could be Aficanized bees and if anyone or anybody gets too close to their brooding hide-out without a very good bee suit, they may get stung very badly.

I'd look for a beekeeper in your area, and pay him gas money and his time to come look at the situation.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
If they leave a "stinger" in the area where your getting "big & swollen" they are indeed some type of bee or wasp.
If you have some protective gear,{vail long sleeves etc.} locate the nest by watching where they are coming from or going to in the day time.

Then *after it gets dark* sneak up close to the nest and spray about 2 or more cans of wasp spray {Raid ?} directly into and around the nest.

If you can't find a stinger in your "bites" they are not bees, but the above may still work if you want to kill them off.

Years ago I lived in Florida and there were nasty flies around that bit, that stayed around some lakes where we went swimming at, I don't know how to get rid of them.
