Answers:
You did not say what kind of lillies--If they are Day lillies--yes you may plant them any time after they bloom. wait until after they bloom so you will not miss the beauty of this years flowers. I have Day lillies that i have transplanted many times when i had to move to a new area. Plant them barely under the soil/ You will have rhizomes which are little potato looking things that you can seperate from the main one --Every year they will make 2 more from the Mother plant. After a few years you will need to divide them as they grow too thick and stop blooming if not thinned . I hope you were referring to Day lillies. Not sure about other kinds.
You can transplant container-grown plants anytime during the growing season except midsummer. Be sure to water them thoroughly.
Lillies do multiply. I have always split my up every 2 years and added them to more areas around the house/lawn. I use the same method every time. Good soil, nice size hole to plant them in and plant food at the start. Other than that I just water them.
