How to save replanted bushes and shrubs.?

Question:We are about to re do our backyard and many bushes need to be replanted, but... not right away. How can we preserve them from dying? Is there any way that we can replant them after several days out of the ground?

Answers:
The use of water before, during and after is the key.

First of all, soak the plants before lifting.
Keep as much soil around the root ball as possible when you lift them.
Wrap the root ball and soil in some plastic or tarpaulin.
Keep them very moist until you are ready to replant.
Keep them in the shade.
And once again, water the plants well when you put them in their new homes.

Kristina is right, and another thing, it probably wouldn't hurt to trim the shrubs back, give them a pruning. My husband and I have moved shrubs around in our yard many times. It seems to help with the bulkiness of it.
I pulled some wild onions out of my garden bed when i was ready to plant some other things. I threw them into the yard and yesterday (1 1/2 months later) the darn thing was still living out there on the grass. I replanted it in the burn pile. Some things are hard to kill. A cockroach can live for up to 9 days without a head!!
