How do I make my Venus Flytrap produce seeds? Where will I find the seeds that it produces?
Question:
Answers:
When the flower has opened, there should be more than one, gently rub two of the floers together. This should pollinate them. The stalk will then make seed pods in place of the flowers. When these ripen they will start to split open. Use a small envelope or piece of white paper to collect the seeds. They are very tiny.
First, make sure you're keeping your flytrap healthy. They love being outdoors in full sun. Inside is really the worst place for them.
Here's some info from http://www.steveconrad.co.uk/bog/typevft...
They say:
During the spring time, the plants can produce a very long thick stem from the center of the rosette. This stem can grow over 10 inches high and may be topped with small white flowers which flower for a few days before dying off.
The stem itself continues on for a lot longer, however, it can be cut off at the base once it has stopped flowering. The closed heads, if pollenated, may have produced seeds.
Goodluck!
