On my rose bush should I cut off the faded old blossoms?

Question:The bush was planted before we moved in out house...never had the heart to dig it up. I water it and cut it back for winter.

Answers:
Yes cut off the old blossoms so new ones will come up.
If you are cutting it back a bit b/c it is getting too tall, always cut it back to where there are 5 leaves that are facing away from the interior of the rose bush b/c that is where the new stem will come out of. You don't want crossing canes and you want the interior of the plant relatively free so air can circulate.
Also later in the season cutting spent blooms will make sure that the rose bush doesn't go to spend its energy on making rose hips and seeds.

yes... cutting the dead ones help maintain the others longer..
and it makes the others look better...
So cut away.
K
Yes as it promotes new bud growth.
You should cut the stem below the spent flower, where the 5 leaf configuration comes out. Like stated previously cutting spent blooms will promote better growth and better blooms.
