Hello! i am looking for a real fast growing shade tree that wont make a big mess(tree is for shade from...)?
Question:sun in swimming pool... the sun is on it all day... i live in south georgia, where its already TOO HOT! SOME SHADE WOULD BE GREAT FOR THE KIDS... LOW MAINTENANCE.LOW MESS AND NO LEAVES IN THE OFF SEASON, PLEASE! FAST GROWING IS A MUST! thank you all!
Answers:
Most fast growing trees are weak. As for no leaves, probably what I would suggest is a Leland Cypress, but they are also not that strong and will break in heavy winds.
For god's sake, don't buy a Lombardy Poplar which is advertised as a "miracle tree". The miracle is that they grow fast, die young, and fall down.
Elm trees
Fast growing low maintainance
Most fast growing shade trees are of the deciduous nature like some maples and they'll drop their leaves and make a mess.
You could try some sort of evergreen pine or conifer, but they may drop needles.
Chances are, you'll have to do some maintenance and/or clean up.
try a cotton less cotton tree they grow big and quick! at my moms house there was a tree i guess a bird dropped a seed or something but grew fast and it was huge in like 6 months
Maybe a buckeye? They grow pretty quickly, are usually the first to leaf out in the spring. They do drop their leaves, but I think you'd be hard pressed to find a tree that won't...good luck!
Start by making a business of selling plastic trees , they will give shade and will not make a mess and you can give then the shape you like .
I am a genius , don't waste time and start doing it as fast as you can and have fun !
Orestes has a good idea. A plastic tree. This is all the rage in CA, because there is ZERO maintenance and you can get it the size you want to begin with. I've seen Palms like this at Hooters in Johnson City, TN, but they're not "Shade Trees."
I thought maybe Magnolia grandiflora might work, but it does not meet your fast growth requirements and is NOT really a shade tree.
Pull out the plastic and buy plastic. Good luck.
