Do i need to grow 2 courgette plants?

Question:i've only got a small garden, and have one courgette plant. i've been told i need at least 2, or no courgettes will grow. can the flowers on one plant fertilise other flowers on the same plant? or do i need to get another courgette plant?

Answers:
Seeing as they have both male and female flowers,I don`t think you will have any problems.

Yes. They sexually reproduce. The marrow is a very phallic non-legumic vegetable of the gourd family and it is easy to remember if the veg is able to reproduce sexually or not by checking the shape of the fruit. If it is like a penis then the answer is yes. If it is like a testicle or vagina then the answer is no. Simple.
I don't think you NEED 2, but I'd get 2 anyway. Courgettes are a particularly rewarding thing to grow because the fruit "just keep on comin" and if you have 2 you can get to the stage later in the year where you'll always have a fruit coming ready to pick most of the time. Plus they're easy to grow requiring little looking after (and are quite drought tolerant) and are quite attractive so can happily be grown in your flower borders.
