Are my roses all dead?

Question:I live near Cincinnati, Ohio. Late in March it was very warm and all our trees started to bud out and look nice, flowers started to pop up out of the ground and begin to show signs of spring and then BOOM-we got a cold spell, a very cold spell. Now more than a dozen roses bushes have failed to make an appearance. My other plants are all coming back up. I have two roses that did come up. Do you think all the other roses are dead? Are they that fragile? Should I wait longer? Is it possible they will come back next year? Help! Roses are expensive!! :(

Answers:
I can tell you that I also live in Cinci, and that same storm killed my little rose bush too... so yes, Id say your's are dead as well.

Yes they are that fragile... I live in Missouri, and I was fortunate, my roses all came back. I did have some severe damage to a couple of them.
I would say that they are dead. I am in Wisconsin and our roses are all growing except for 1 that didn't make it through the winter. Yes roses are Very delicate. We have decided to replace ours with a combination of hardy hydrangeas and asters for summer and fall color. I am giving up on roses. Sorry :(
