How to make sure mice are gone?

Question:About 2 weeks ago my husband found a mouse on our BBQ grill on our back porch. The mouse ran off as my husband opened the lid since then he put in traps and has caught the mouse. We have 2 dogs and niether seems to have picked up on anything in the house...as our back porch has a sliding door we leave open when it is warm. I ahve bought a electric mouse trap that sends off a signal that is supposed to keep them away and have put it right at the sliding door. Any other tips on how to make sure the mouse is gone and that is the only one is there anything else we should do?

Answers:
I think the only thing to do is check for droppings in corners etc. Make sure the house is very clean because mice come in when there's food and water. Make sure there are no crumbs and open containers in the pantry.

If you leave your back door open, make sure the screen stays shut. Also check around the perimeter of your house for any place a mouse can get in.
We have 2 cats are we are "rodent free". They also kill other unwanted bugs. (watch out for birds though).

If you don't get rid of the mice, you will attract snakes.
i read this somewhere, i haven't tried it yet. a cotton ball dip in peppermint oil and place in corners of your porch or along the side of a step. what i read it was for inside of your house to put in the corners of a room, if the mice were in a house. it is suppose to work. i sure i will have to try this come fall.
hope it helps.
