Love in a mist?
Question:i planted some love in a mist seeds in some peat pots about 2 months ago. the seedlings are now about three inches tall and i am just wondering of i can plant them outside yet?? i have been putting them outside on sunny days and bringing them in at night so i'm worried they will die of shock once replanted. many thanks for any answers.
Answers:
Start by leaving them out overnight. Since they are in peat pots, you don't need to worry about shock too much since you won't be disturbing the roots. Plant them in the garden, pot and all. The peat pots act as a compost, fertilizer and moisture retainer all in one. By far the best thing to start seeds in.
Those are beautiful. I planted some of those for the first time this year too. I am exited about them coming up! I got the Mrs. Jekyl Blue.
they should be fine, we've got some in our garden from last year and the seem pretty hardy.
love in the mist[nigella] is a hardy annual and is better sown direct in the soil. but what ur doing is fine leave them in a sheltered spot outside at night do not bring them in and then plant them out with as little Root disturbance as poss and keep them well watered until established
Yes, they should be fine. I sowed some nigella seed in my garden a few years ago and I still get them coming up.
They should be fine be sure to water well.
You're doing quite right. hardening them off before planting out is always a good idea, even though nigella is pretty tough and hardy anyway. this is a good time to plant out: make sure you water them in well and put them in a sunny or partially sunny spot where you can see and enjoy the unusual foliage and flowers. you can keep sowing these seeds up to about the end of June and plants will seed themselves for years to come. it is also possible to sow seeds in September and have flowers in Spring if you want.
