Motion sensor lights settings help?
Question:Hello,
I have an outdoor motion sensor light outside my home, but I don't know how to set it so that it automatically turns on when it detects motion at night. One of the switches are marked "PHOTO/SECURITY", the other marked "TEST/135". There is also a SENSITIVITY dial. Please reply as soon as possible. Thank you.

If it doesn't come on at all, it may be turned off at an inside switch. If you have "odd/unknown" switches in the garage or near a door, it could be one of them.
Set it on security, and on 135. 135 means the "beam" watches a 135 degree angle. You may need to manually move the light to "look" more towards the ground (it could be searching for possums up in the tree depending on how it is currently set. LOL!) or to angle it more towards the area where you first want it to detect motion (if it's over the garage, you'll want it aimed slightly toward the entrance of the driveway and not off toward the back or side yard. If it's for a sidewalk, you will want it aimed at the sidewalk, not towards the corner of the house).
The sensitivity dial - set it to the most sensitive and if it comes on too much, then move it to a less sensitive setting. That just detemines how much movement is required to set it off. On the most sensitive setting, leaves blowing across the driveway or the movement of a bush blowing in the wind across the yard may set it off. A less sensitive setting will not do this, but will only detect people, vehicles, and all 150 of those deer that cross the property at night.
Probably hit the photo/security button then adjust the sensitivity to about half way. Then step back and see how close you have to get to make it light. Adjust the sensitivity to how close, or far away you want it to pick up a signal.
dont worry as soon as the rain hits your sensor will probably go haywire and not shut off anyways... most of them do this
