I have a yard full of leaves to pick up, how I can get them all bagged up by myself? Any creative ideas?
Question:My husband decided he wants a divorce and moved out - now I have to do the yard work by myself. I haven't been able to think of a create way to get the leaves up, any help would be appreciated!
Answers:
By a tarp large enough to put them on.Tie it up or a by a bunch of trash bags.
A leaf blower can blow them into a pile making them easier to pick up. If you have a mower you can just spread them out with a rake and chop them up small, leave them on the grass.
hire a neighborhood kid to do it! they should be out of school and looking for something to do.
Depending on the type of tree they come from , you can mulch
them with a mower but , if they are a acid variety you will have
to pick them up or more then likely they will kill your grass .
They do make hopper style mulches that will reduce like 10
bags down to 1 bag . Then you could spread them in flower
beds enriching the soil conditions or just put it out for recycle.
They also make blower / vac that mulch up leafs on a smaller
scale . So it really depends on the volume as to your solution .
I have been doing this all for years . Hope it helped ...
Got a lawn mower? Get a mulching blade for it then have at them. Grind them up and let them fertilize the lawn. That's what I do.
Don't bag them run them over with the lawnmower!!
That mulches them right up and adds nutriens back into the soil or you can rake some around the bases of the trees and it will act like mulch and decompose after a while to create rich soil.Speaking from personal experience here..I have huge oaktrees personally I like composting things you can do that by just finding an out of the way corner and rake them there..just be sure to keep some moisture on them and turn them every once in a while the earthworms will love you for it!
Get a gardener. If you must do it.Take a large trash can and put a trash bag in it.Then lean it on its side and rake the leaves in and stand it up right. That's the way I would do it.
Sounds like you'll need a lawn mower eventually. If you can afford it right now, get a mulching mower. I have 15 trees on my property and a forest behind my backyard, and I think every leaf in the area blows into my yard. If you cannot afford a mower right now, and don't want to bag up the leaves, perhaps a neighbor with a mower could help you?
